Extended Care Programs
Georgetown
Independent School District offers two programs that provide extended
care opportunities for elementary and middle school students.
The Extended School Enrichment Program operates
on elementary campuses, and the After School
Action Program provides after-school activites at middle school
campuses. In addition, the district provides a child development
center that offers daycare during the school year for the children
of GISD employees and students. The Eagle
Wings Child Development Center is an NAEYC accredited program
that provides an early childhood curriculum for children ages
0-4.
Extended School Enrichment
Extended
School Enrichment (ESE) Centers provide access to a safe, economically
feasible before/after school and summer care that will support
and enrich the lives of the participating students and their families.
ESE conducts centers at each GISD elementary campus for children
in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Children have opportunities to participate in activities,
which benefit them emotionally, socially, physically, and academically.
The enrichments include homework assistance, computers, tutoring,
crafts, sports and games, art, science, music, gardening, nutrition
and many additional educational, creative and cultural activities.
A trained staff plans and conducts the program to meet the needs
of the children and provides positive adult role models.
Each Center is licensed by the Texas Department
of Protective and Regulatory Services (DPRS) and is a “Texas
Rising Star” through Child Care Management Services (CCMS),
a division of the Texas Workforce Commission. Extended School
Enrichment is designed with today’s working families in
mind, and was developed by the Georgetown Independent School District
and Partners in Education. ESE is totally funded by monthly student
tuitions so a constant search for grants and support to expand
and maintain our quality program occurs on a regular basis.
ESE continues to evolve with the demands of
our growing and ever-changing community.

After School Action Program
The After School Action Program (ASAP) provides
middle school youth with safe after school alternatives that promote responsibility
and healthy decisions. A variety of activities are offered that challenge
students both mentally and physically to reach their goals.
All GISD middle school 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students
are encouraged to register. A parent or legal guardian must register
his/her student(s) in person at his/her school. Class sizes are
limited so early registration is recommended.
Programs offered through ASAP include activities
such as tutoring, drama, dance, martial arts, club time, and outdoor
recreation.
ASAP is funded by a federal grant through the Office
of National Drug Control Policy and is locally supported by The
Georgetown Project, GISD, Georgetown Parks and Recreation, and
the Williamson County Art Guild.

skills.

Eagle Wings provides care from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
during the 175 instructional days of the GISD calendar. Eagle
Wings is CLOSED for teacher training and in-service on all GISD
