Choosing Reliable Web
Sites
The last three letters of a URL
tell what kind of Web site it is. A good researcher will use these types
of sites for research purposes:
.gov sites are hosted by the
government
.edu sites are hosted by schools
.org sites are organizations,
mainly not-for-profit organizations. Museums and libraries usually end in
.org
BEWARE of addresses with a tilde(~).
That means that though it is a part of the initial site address, it was not
created, published, or maintained by the initial site.
BEWARE of a web site ending in .com.
These sites often have a commercial purpose.
The APA Wizard is designed to
help you create a citation. It will take you through the steps for the most
common types of cited works providing you with assistance on how to input
specific information. As long as you enter the information correctly.
